Email Set Up: How to receive and send emails via Gmail using POP3 and SMTP 2017

Email Set Up: Start sending and receiving emails

You can use your Gmail account to start sending and receiving emails through your domain email address eg: name@yourdomain.co.nz or name@yourdomain.com.  You can achieve this by setting up your domains email address as a POP3 and SMTP account through Gmail.

Below is a step by step guide on how you can do this, alternatively you should contact your web provider or IT provider to set this up.

Provided you have your email configuration sorted.  Your next step is to follow the guide below:

Step 1: 

NOTE: If you have a Gmail forwarder set up, you will need to remove this after the setup.

If you are using Grow Media as your hosting provider the following instructions you will need during the setup, in most cases, email configuration will already be set up for you through your initial consultation.  If you are stuck, contact us for more information.

Incoming and outgoing hostname
mail.cloudngin.com

Outgoing port: 587
Incoming port: 110

Use Start TLS as the security. If that is not available, use SSL when setting up manually.  If app requests for a username and password when setting up the emails manually, then this would be both your full email and email password.

Step 2: Configuring POP3 and SMTP at Gmail 2017

  1. Log into your Gmail account.
  2. Scroll over to the Gear at the top right and click on Settings.

3. Click the Accounts tab.

4. Next to Check mail from other accounts (using POP3),” click Add a POP3 mail account you own.

5. Enter your domain’s email address and click Next Step.

6. Click on next

7. Enter your POP3 information for your domains email address in the form.

Click Add Account.

For Grow Media clients follow the instructions below: In this example we have used SSL
